Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 7, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make a purchase from thresholduniverse.com (the "Site").
The Site is operated by Denver Marshall Lane, publishing as House Chimera Press ("we," "us," or "our"). If you have questions, contact us at thresholduniverse@gmail.com.
By using the Site, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Policy.
1. Information We Collect
Information you give us directly. When you sign up for free chapters or our reader list, purchase a book, or contact us, we may collect your name, email address, shipping address (for paperback orders), and the contents of any message you send. Newsletter and list signups are handled through our email provider, Ghost.
Payment information. When you buy a book, your payment is processed by a third-party payment processor. We do not collect or store your full card number or banking details on our own servers; that information is handled directly by the payment processor and, where relevant, our fulfillment partners.
Order and delivery information. Paperback orders are printed and shipped by our print-on-demand partner (Bookvault). Ebook orders are delivered through a delivery service (BookFunnel). To fulfill your order, we share the information necessary to complete printing, shipping, or digital delivery.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we (and the tools we use) may automatically collect certain information about your device and browsing, including your IP address, browser type, device information, referring pages, and the pages you view. We collect this using cookies and similar technologies.
We currently use, or may in the future use, the following analytics and advertising technologies: Google Analytics, the Meta (Facebook) pixel, and Wix's built-in visitor statistics. When active, these tools help us understand Site traffic, improve the Site, and measure and target advertising. Where required by law, we will request your consent before using non-essential cookies.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- deliver free chapters, reader updates, and other emails you request;
- process, fulfill, and deliver your book orders (print, ship, and digitally deliver);
- respond to your questions and provide customer support;
- operate, maintain, improve, and secure the Site;
- understand how visitors use the Site and measure the effectiveness of our marketing;
- prevent fraud and enforce our Terms of Service; and
- comply with our legal obligations.
For visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, our legal bases for processing include your consent (e.g., for marketing emails and non-essential cookies), the performance of a contract (fulfilling your order), our legitimate interests (operating and improving the Site), and compliance with legal obligations.
3. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Cookies are small data files stored on your device. We use essential cookies to operate the Site and, when active, analytics and advertising cookies as described above. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, and where required we will provide a consent banner. Disabling some cookies may affect how the Site functions.
4. How We Share Your Information
We share personal information only as needed to run the Site and fulfill your requests, including with:
- Service providers who perform functions on our behalf — for example, our website host (Wix), email provider (Ghost), print and fulfillment partner (Bookvault), ebook delivery service (BookFunnel), our payment processor, and analytics/advertising providers (Google, Meta).
- Legal and safety recipients — we may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our readers, the public, or us.
- Business transfers — if we sell or transfer our publishing business or assets, reader information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising in exchange for money. We do not rent or trade your information to third parties for their own marketing.
5. Data Retention
We keep your personal information for as long as needed to provide you with our books and updates, to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information, we will do so except where we are required or permitted by law to retain it.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
