Terms of Service

Effective Date: July 7, 2026

Welcome to thresholduniverse.com (the "Site"). The Site is operated by Denver Marshall Lane, publishing as House Chimera Press ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Site, or by purchasing a book from us, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

For questions about these Terms, contact us at thresholduniverse@gmail.com.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to use the Site or make a purchase. By using the Site, you represent that you meet this requirement.

2. Use of the Site

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Site for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:

  • copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from Site content except as expressly permitted;
  • use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, its servers, or related systems;
  • interfere with or disrupt the Site or introduce malicious code; or
  • use automated means to scrape or harvest content or data from the Site.

3. Intellectual Property

All content on the Site — including the Threshold books and series, text, manuscripts, sample chapters, cover art, illustrations, logos, characters, names, worldbuilding, graphics, and design — is the property of Denver Marshall Lane / House Chimera Press or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.

Purchasing a book grants you a personal, non-transferable license to read it for your own use. It does not transfer any ownership or intellectual property rights. You may not reproduce, distribute, resell, share, upload, or publicly post our books or content, in whole or in part, without our prior written permission. Free sample chapters are provided for your personal reading only and may not be redistributed.

4. Purchases, Pricing, and Payment

We sell books directly through the Site in paperback and ebook formats.

  • Pricing. All prices are listed in the currency shown at checkout and may change at any time without notice. We make reasonable efforts to display accurate pricing; in the event of an obvious error, we may cancel the affected order.
  • Payment. Payments are processed by a third-party payment processor. By purchasing, you authorize us and our processor to charge your chosen payment method for the total amount, including any applicable taxes and shipping.
  • Taxes. You are responsible for any sales, use, or similar taxes associated with your purchase, which may be added at checkout where required.
  • Order acceptance. Your order is an offer to purchase. We may accept or decline any order, and we reserve the right to limit or cancel orders.

5. Fulfillment, Shipping, and Delivery

  • Paperback books are printed on demand and shipped by our print and fulfillment partner. Estimated production and delivery times are provided for convenience and are not guaranteed. Risk of loss passes to you upon delivery to the carrier.
  • Ebooks are delivered digitally through a third-party delivery service and are intended to be read on your preferred device or reading app. It is your responsibility to provide a valid email address and to download your ebook.

6. Returns and Refunds

  • Ebooks / digital products. Because ebooks are delivered digitally and cannot be returned, all ebook sales are final and non-refundable once the download or delivery link has been provided, except where a refund is required by applicable law. Where required for consumers in the EU/UK, you consent to immediate delivery of digital content and acknowledge that your right of withdrawal is lost once delivery begins.
  • Paperbacks. If your paperback arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, contact us at thresholduniverse@gmail.com within 14 days of delivery with your order details and a photo of the issue, and we will arrange a replacement or refund. Because paperbacks are printed to order, we generally cannot accept returns for reasons other than defect or error.

7. Email and Reader Communications

By providing your email address — for free chapters, release notices, or our reader list — you consent to receive related emails from us. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by contacting us. Transactional messages (such as order confirmations) are not marketing and may still be sent as needed to complete your purchase.

The Site may contain links to third-party websites and services that we do not control, including social media pages, our newsletter, and payment or fulfillment providers. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third party, and your use of those services is at your own risk and subject to their terms.

9. Disclaimers

The Site and all content and products are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Denver Marshall Lane / House Chimera Press will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Site or any products purchased. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Site or a purchase will not exceed the amount you paid us for the product giving rise to the claim.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Denver Marshall Lane / House Chimera Press from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any rights of another party.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the Effective Date above and post the updated Terms on this page. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Site will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Florida, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
